Articling

SMG offers a complete articling experience.  Although there is no formal rotation, students enjoy a well-balanced experience through exposure to a wide range of issues within all areas of practice.  Our articling students are not kept behind the scenes.  They have carriage of Small Claims files, meet with clients, and also appear regularly in the Small Claims and Superior Courts.

Our firm offers a professional and collegial working environment.  We value articling students as integral members of the firm.  Our program allows students develop the skills and qualities necessary to be successful not only in articling, but also in their future practices.

SMG generally hires an Articling Student each year.  Applications should include a cover letter, resume, transcripts and reference letters.  For any additional inquiries, please contact Ryan Warren.

Our application process and deadlines comply with the guidelines provided by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Our current Articling Student is Kelsy Gill.  Kelsy was born and raised in Peterborough and the Kawartha Lakes.  She graduated from Carleton University with a B.A.(Hons.) in Political Science and a minor in Canadian Studies.  She completed the Canadian and American Dual J.D. program at the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy.  She expects to be called to the Bar in June of 2017.  Kelsy can be reached via email at kgill@smglaw.ca.
