Well, we’re finally here. Maybe we’re a little late taking the plunge, but we’re here now. By “here”, of course, I mean the wonderful world of “social media” or “the blogosphere” or the “Twitterverse” (or whatever else you want to call it). What we’re really saying is that we’ve made the leap in terms of interacting and engaging with our clients.

This is, of course, something that we’ve always WANTED to do. What good business wouldn’t want to engage with their clients? It’s just that sometimes it’s hard to actually do it, in practice. As most business owners find, there are always deadlines to meet, and projects to manage. Doing those things is important, and there is no “business” if that stops happening, but of equal importance for us (and for you) is being in touch and being aware of our clients’ needs.

So we want to be more accessible. We’re blogging. We’re on Twitter. We’re out there, and we want to hear what you have to say. We know it’s not enough to throw up a blog and a Twitter post and call that “engagement”, but we’re diving in.

Too often, a lawyer is some sort of mythical creature with a certain expected “aura” surrounding your relationship with “your lawyer”. Simple phrases such as, “I’ll be in touch with my lawyer”, or “you can expect to hear from my lawyer”, makes contact with a lawyer sound like some significant event that only occurs in highly specialized, dramatic circumstances.

Don’t get me wrong – we’re professional, and represent our clients with drive and tenacity, but we’re real people too, and we’re ready to break down the barriers that make communicating with “your lawyer” a challenge.
